Power Edit, as its name suggests, is a powerful text editor. It has an impressive list of tools and features. Although it has no ability to work with images, when it comes to text editing, you will probably find everything you need plus some features you did not find in other editors.
The program’s interface is clean, slightly similar with WordPad’s interface. On the left side you will find a panel titled “Clip Lists” which contains HTML tags that can be quickly inserted into your document, HTML characters and very few JavaScript, C, Pascal and other programming language instructions.
The application has a spell-check tool and a thesaurus. The thesaurus neatly organizes the list of synonyms by context (e.g. business, science).
The undo/redo feature is multilevel. Considering that it keeps history of tens of actions, it’s pretty weird that it doesn’t keep track of changes made by tools. For example, if you use the HTML Tidy tool or automatically add numbers to each line, the action cannot be undone.
Although this is a good program that allows fast and advanced text editing, it is still far from perfect.
